Sleep Paralysis

What I am about to tell you is either:

  • A. Complete lies
  • B. The truth

If you think I’m lying then please come up with an answer as to why I would lie about this, because I couldn’t think of why someone would tell a lie like this...

...For the record though, EVERYTHING I am telling you is the truth.

First of all I didn’t really want to talk about this to ANYONE but I have to say what NEEDS to be said...

There, I said it! OK on a serious note that sums up the whole point of this but I will tell you why and how IT IS ‘demonic activity’.

First we have to go back roughly 10 years. I was in my teens and like most young males I was randy! What with the hormones and everything. This obviously comes in tow with certain practices such as lusting with eyes and mind, fornication and masturbation.

We’ll come back to all of that in a bit but here’s where we talk about my first experience with ‘sleep paralysis’.

One night I was laying in bed wide awake and I thought I could feel my cat walking on top of me but although I was 99.9% sure my cat wasn’t in my room however I looked to see it on top of me.. But it wasn’t there..

I quickly assumed that I was just feeling things but the thought had already entered my mind. One that I really didn’t want in there. One that would get me paranoid and fearful.. ‘Oh my Lord there’s a demon in my room!’ I mean lets be serious, it was just ME in my room no pets or anyone else just ME...

I’ll quickly backtrack though for a bit because coming to the conclusion of a demon is well.. A bit out there you may think, but you see I was raised in a Christian home, I had deliverance AKA exorcism (and no I wasn’t ‘possessed’ but demonic activity was taking place in my life; I never knew why though I was just 9) because I would wake up most nights screaming the house down although I never remembered it the next morning. Anyway the parents thought I should have deliverance and well it worked! Praise God! But like I said, I don’t have a clue why these episodes happened to me but hey that’s just one example of my knowledge of demons.

The rest of my knowledge comes from stories from family members and people close to me and lets just say I pretty much heard it all by the time I was 11! I knew how you could open up your life to demonic attacks (various habitual sin, occult, etc.) and how to get rid of them (DELIVERANCE – Call them out by name and cast them out in Jesus’ name)

Lets skip forward to my mid teens now. As I explained about the sleep paralysis activity and how I knew it was demonic activity your probably thinking ‘well how exactly do you know?’ Well like I said before I explained my first experience that like most teenagers I was sexually active and full of lust.. Now stay with me here... If you’re not already aware lusting, sexual immorality, masturbation and fornication are sins according to the bible (although masturbation isn’t specifically stated as sin, but it is lustful). Now these attacks ONLY happened on a day when I either masturbated or fornicated or had sexual contact with my girlfriend.. or any other girl for that matter..... ONLY THOSE DAYS.

(Just to add a bit more info on the attacks, although what I first described happened to me 'wide awake' all the other experiences of sleep paralysis I had were when I was asleep/woken from sleep and they ranged from hallucinations to out of body experiences, being dragged along my bed, complete paralysis of the body except eyes, dreams, hearing talking and also strange noises that are very hard to explain and dreams that were completely insane.)

I had finally realised the cause! I didn’t notice the link at first but on ANY and EVERYDAY I committed these sexual sins IT HAPPENED. Now during the 8-10 years I had it, I did slip up and the attacks would happen but with prayer, repentance and new desires to follow God I became stronger to resist these sins.

Now I’ll be honest I’ve been writing this up on and off for almost 3 months and in this time I’ve had ‘sleep paralysis’ (AKA demonic activity; if you haven’t already understood yet!) and once again it was down to my own mistakes. One thing I have noticed is that when you haven’t had it for a while and these episodes come back they can be worse than before.

This reminds me of what Jesus said in the Bible: Matthew 12:43-45 - When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Now I never had deliverance (exorcism) for this, probably due to the fact that I was ashamed but I constantly prayed for deliverance from The almighty himself and when I turned from my sexual sins and desires I had the most peaceful sleep for months on end.

By the way if you’re not familiar with the term ‘deliverance’ it is exorcism basically, except you don’t need holy water, crucifixes, etc. You identify what unclean spirit is in a person, e.g.. ‘Spirit of fear’ and cast that demon out in Jesus’ name.

Now let me just make this straight I’m not saying sexual sin is the cause of ‘sleep paralysis’, I’m saying SIN IS THE CAUSE, however; because this demonic attack is just one manifestation of sin doesnt mean you havent opened up a doorway to the demonic if you havent had 'sleep paralysis' and live in sin.
lay with fire and you WILL get burnt. Sin will affect you one way or another

Sleep paralysis is just a term given by man. I'm not against science but science can not give a name to or explain something that is SPIRITUAL.

It is Christ and Christ alone who will completely set you free from this. Even if it stops for a while it can and most probably will come back and the episodes can become more terrifying than some of you can even imagine. It’s not uncommon in some cases as some of you may know already, to wake up with bruises. The one that freaked me out was waking up with a red hand print on me as if I had been tightly gripped.

The reality of the presence of evil in your life can and will lead you to Christ IF YOU CHOOSE to search for him. When you have your next attack and you’re able to shout or at least speak (if you haven’t had your mouth paralysed shut, if so say it in your head). Shout out By the power and authority in Jesus go into the abyss you unclean spirit in the name of Jesus Christ LEAVE!’.

You see there is power in the name of Jesus and demons tremble at His name. You must speak boldly with authority and with belief that the demons will flee at the very mention of Christ’s name for them to do so.

To have complete victory over demonic attacks though you NEED Christ in your life.

Sinner's Prayer - Recognizing the Need

The "Sinner's Prayer" is a term that describes the words spoken by a person when he or she has recognized their sin and their need for a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. This prayer will NOT save you. Christ will!

“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.”

If you decided to repent (turn from ALL) of your sins and receive Christ today, welcome to God's family. Now, as a way to grow closer to Him, the Bible tells us to follow up on our commitment.

  • Get baptized as commanded by Christ.
  • Strive to be holy (we are not saved by living Holy but we live Holy because we are saved!)
  • Tell someone else about your new faith in Christ.
  • Spend time with God each day. It does not have to be a long period of time. Just develop the daily habit of praying to Him and reading His Word. Ask God to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.
  • Seek fellowship with other followers of Jesus. Develop a group of believing friends to answer your questions and support you.
  • Find a local church where you can worship God.

If you have ANY questions PLEASE ask, I’ll do my best to help and if I can’t I will do whatever it takes to get you the answers.
